Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Horses.  Humans.                                   Infinite possibilities for change.

Change.... a powerful concept for all living things. When most of us think of change, we assume it's something negative.  Change is dynamic, powerful. Sometimes it's painful to adjust, even if the change brings something better to our lives.  Change can bring renewal, insight, and peacefulness to our body, mind & spirit.

Are you ready to change, or do you want to just talk about it?

Welcome to H2Change, programs inspired by the observation of positive growth and reciprocal change by the interaction of horses and humans.

Equi-librium Equine Assisted Psychotherapy                                                           Life balance through horses

Horses have much to teach about mindful living, the importance of social support, and living despite adversity.  Horses are intuitively capable of sensing emotion in humans, and will mirror these emotions by their behavior.  There is something about a horse that is awe-inspiring and empowering. They embody freedom of spirit, the power of relationship, courage to endure, and the comfort of being oneself.  Equine assisted psychotherapy employs horses in the process of therapy with individuals, families, and groups.

Experience partnering with horses along the path of psychological growth, problem solving, leadership development, relationship building, and resolving inner conflicts.  No horse experience is necessary, and activities do not involve riding.  Open your mind to a new way of learning along the inward path of self-discovery.

Sessions are available in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).  EAP activities are used in place of traditional psychotherapy office visits, for individuals and families.  EAL activities are intended for learning, team-building, and problem solving among groups such as corporations, teams, and organizations.

Join us for a powerful learning experience!  We offer groups on the following topics:

  • Life Transitions
  • Stress Management
  • Yoga with Horses (coming soon!)
  • Mindfulness with Horses, inspired by the work of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn

Our program offers:

  • ethical practice: we follow the guidelines of APA and EAGALA.

EAGALA is an internationally recognized organization that educates and certifies professionals in the practice of equine-assisted psychotherapy.

  • professionalism: programs offered by a licensed clinical psychologist

Why leave your psychological health and wellbeing in the hands of someone without any training in mental health? Many equine-based programs exist.  Inquire about the professional training of the persons offering these services.  Make an informed choice about who to see for assistance.

  • skill-based training and problem-solving

We offer interventions that teach life skills and problem solving, so participants will be prepared to live and think independently in the most optimum ways.  We are not about fostering dependence on a "guru".

  • assistance with finding your own path in life

Who knows best about your own life?  You do.  We tailor programs to meet the specific needs of the individual.  We assist participants in finding their own way through problems, so each person can develop a strong sense of self-esteem, self-determination, and confidence in the ability to look inside oneself for the answers to life's questions.
